Mail Access

Record seekers may send a written request to the Sherburne County District Court that includes the case name, the file number (if known), the specific document requested, and a daytime phone number. Alternatively, they may send a Copy Request Form to the courthouse. Send the written request or form with a check for the cost of the copy(s). The processing time is five days.

Fees for Court Records in Sherburne County

Sherburne County Probate Records

The Sherburne County District Court is the custodian of probate records including estates, trusts, wills, guardianships, and conservatorships. Most of these records are public and are available online through the Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO). Users should go to the Case Search or Document Search tab and perform a search by person name, business name, attorney name, citation number, case number, or attorney bar number.

Public probate records are also available by mail (send a letter or complete the Copy Request Form) or in person at the courthouse during business hours. In-person requesters may use the public access terminals to search and print nonconfidential copies for free. Alternatively, they may ask a staff member for assistance obtaining certified copies of probate records for a fee.

Sherburne County Family Court Records

Individuals may access family court records through the Sherburne County District Court. However, not all of these records are public; for example, adoption, child custody, parenting time, and child support records are not. The District Court release confidential family court records only to the case parties, their legal representative, or someone with a court order. Other family court records, such as divorce records, are public.

The easiest way to find public family court records is through the Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO). Users may perform a Case Search using a person's name, business name, attorney name, case number, or attorney bar number.

Individuals may obtain copies of public and confidential court records by mail or in person. To send requests by mail, submit a written letter or a completed Copy Request Form to the Sherburne County District Court, along with a check for the appropriate fees. Interested persons may also visit the courthouse during business hours to submit a request. They may use the courthouse's public access terminals to access public family records at no charge. However, staff issues certified copies only for a fee.

Federal Court Records in Sherburne County
